Ivan M. Hochstetler, 75, of Dover, died Sunday, June 1, 2003 in the Hennis Care Centre at Dover.
He was a well-known employee of Hatcher Roofing and Henry Heating and Cooling where he had worked for many years.
Born September 17, 1927 at Millersburg, he was the son of the late Perry and Esther Mast Hochstetler.
An Army veteran, Ivan served a year in Tokyo as a Demolitions Expert at the conclusion of World War II.
Ivan loved sports and was a die-hard fan of his beloved Dover Tornadoes. A longtime, active member of the Tornado Booster Club, before his illness he had a streak of over 40 years without missing a Dover High football game.
Surviving is his wife of 53 years, the former Josephine DiStefano, whom he wed on April 29, 1950.
Other survivors include: four sons; Joseph (Barbara) Hochstetler of Margate, FL, Cassidy (Tracy) Hochstetler of Dover, Donald (Holly) Hochstetler of New Philadelphia, and Ivan (Angela) Hochstetler of Dover, two daughters; Faith (William) Harper of Strasburg, Hope (Michael) Woelfel of Bainbridge Island, WA, two brothers; Nile (Sharon) Hochstetler of Florida and Dean (Barbara) Hochstetler of Lake Mohawk, a sister; Josephine (William) Hochstetler of Millersburg, twelve grandchildren; Ann Benamati, Amy Lab, William Harper, Perry and Seth Hochstetler, Samson and Carly Hochstetler, Ian Hochstetler, Lea Henry, Steven Woelfel, Sean and Sara Welsh and four great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Michael and Cassandra Benamati and Lucas Lab.
In addition to his parents, Ivan was preceded in death by his son, Terry L. Hochstetler.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 6, at 1:00 p.m. in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Dover with Pastor Larry Hasemeyer officiating. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park where the Dover VFW will conduct military honors. A reception will be held in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center immediately following.
Friends may call in the funeral home on Thursday from 6-8pm and Friday one hour prior to services.
