J. Earl Fondriest, 78, of Dover, died Tuesday, October 9, 2001 in Union Hospital.
A lifelong farmer, Earl had also been employed by General Electric where he had worked for 26 years as a metallurgical engineer.
Born March 22, 1923 at Dover Township, he was son of the late James K. & Sybilla Franz Fondriest.
A graduate of St. Joseph school, he was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dover and the Knights of Columbus. He was a former Dover Township Trustee.
The love of Earl's life was being able to spend time with his wife, children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, the former A. Mary Liegl, whom he wed on June 6, 1951.

10 children; Carol & Jim Gillis, Rochester, NY, Jane & Larry Sloan, Dover, Jim & Karen Fondriest, Massillon, Anne & Steve Gentry, Dublin, Dan & Debbie Fondriest, Howell, MI, Mike & Joan Fondriest, Strasburg, Joe & Jean Fondriest, Granville, John & Debbie Fondriest, Dover, Mary Beth & Brian Rooney, Hoover, AL, Chris & Robb Besse, Fairfield, six brothers and sisters; Nadine & Bill Collins, Walton Hills, Ron & Sue Fondriest, Dover, Marian & John Karl, Dover, Ervin & Annalee Fondriest, Norwalk, Jean Fondriest, Dover, Elden Fondriest, Dover, and 29 grandchildren.
A funeral mass will be celebrated Friday, October 12, at 10:30am in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Dover with Fr. William Arnold & Deacon Ron Fondriest officiating. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery at Dover. Friends may call in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Dover on Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8pm. Christian Wake services will be held at 7:30pm.
