Jack E. Adamson

Early March 8, 2018, we said 'good-bye' to our beloved Jack Eugene Adamson, as he walked into glory.

Born August 6, 1935, to Charles Elmer and Roxie Beatrice Rech Adamson, he was raised in Kenmore. Upon graduating from Kenmore High School, and equipped with a love of family, an unequivocal work ethic and a load of dreams, he married his high school sweetheart, Patricia May “Pat” Kellerman, on July 30, 1954. As a machinist, custodian, postman, park ranger, hunter, trapper, taxidermist and potter, Jack and Pat journeyed life together, but no job surpassed Jack’s passion for antiques. He spent 58 years buying, selling and sharing his in-depth knowledge of antiques and history. Jack traveled the United States exhibiting at shows, attending art exhibits - where his pieces were shown, and sharing his wisdom with everyone.

In 1979, Jack and Pat moved to the Bauer Haus in Zoar, and filled it with their extensive collection of original Zoar pieces from the Society days. A historian, with a desire to leave a legacy for the generations to come, was evident as Jack was the published author of two books, Illustrated Handbook of Sewer Pipe Folk Art and The Pottery of Zoar . Jack had many dear lifelong friends, and, throughout his life, was a man of remarkable reputation.

Nothing surpassed Jack’s love of his family. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 63 years, Pat; his children, Theresa Schiele, Jack Adamson II, Jessie (Scott) Edwards; his grandchildren, Joe (Jessica) Diehl, Lynette, Jack III (Angie) and Amy Adamson, Clayton (Caitlin), Garrett (Ashley), Blaine (Kelsey), Brett and Josephine Edwards; his great grandchildren, Jacob, Tyler and Brandon Hall, Ethan, Jack IV, Xzavier, Elliana and Alayha Wims, August, Judah, Sophia, Gracelynn, Emmalynn, Colton and Coralynn Edwards. Jack will be missed by many more family members and dear friends. He truly was a friend to all he met.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Milton L. and Charles G. Adamson.

Please join us in honoring Jack at a funeral service - officiated by his grandsons, who are both pastors, Clayton and Garrett - on Tuesday, March 13, at 10 a.m., in the Zoar United Church of Christ, 142 Fifth St. Burial will be in Zoar Cemetery. Following the committal, there will be a luncheon in the Zoar fire station. Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, on Monday, March 12, 6 – 8 p.m., and at the church on Tuesday, 9 – 10 a.m.
