Jacquelene K. Haueter, 86, of Great Falls, Virginia, died Tuesday, July 26, 2011, in Loudoun Hospital, Leesburg, Virginia, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Born August 6, 1924, in Nauvoo, Alabama, she was a daughter of the late George W. and Winnie Bailey King. Jacquelene moved with her family at a young age to Summertown, Tennessee, where she grew up and graduated high school. Shortly after the onset of the Second World War, she moved to Canton and was employed by the Hercules Motors Corp. It was at that time that she met her future husband, Paul E. Haueter of Strasburg. The couple were married in 1945 in Florence, Alabama, and set up housekeeping in Enon, Ohio, close to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base where Paul was employed. They reared two children. Tragically, Paul died on October 19, 1964. Jacquelene remained in Enon until 1976, when she re-located to Virginia to be closer to family.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Lioness Club (of Lions Clubs International), and various other civic organizations. Jacquelene liked to cook and entertain. Above all, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Toward the latter part of her life, she found great joy in caring for young children, particularly those with special needs.
Survivors include her daughter, Devra (husband, M.D.) Nadjmabadi of Herndon, Virginia; her son, Thomas "Tom" (wife, Trisha) Haueter of Great Falls; her two grandchildren, Paul (wife, Angie) Nadjmabadi of Los Angeles, California, and Vania Nadjmabadi of McClean, Virginia; her great-grandson, Michael Nadjmabadi; two sisters, Barbara Mayer of Beavercreek, and Jewel Ellison of Dayton; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Paul, Jacquelene was preceded in death by three sisters and five brothers.
A graveside service, open to the public, will be held Saturday, July 30, at 2 p.m., in Grandview Union Cemetery Strasburg, with Rev. Lynda K. Masters of Strasburg United Methodist Church officiating. Following the committal, there will be a luncheon in the Strasburg United Methodist Church.
