James Creighton “Jim” Schilling, 55, resident of Strasburg, Ohio passed away in his home. He was the son of the late Joyce and Laverne Schilling. Jim was born and raised in Dover, Ohio.
After graduating from St. Joseph High School, class of 1969, he went on to become a valued employee of Mack Truck, spending 30 years with the company while working in Canton, Akron, Cincinnati as well as Indiana.
Jim was a member of St. Joseph Church in Dover. Loved by all who knew him as a gentleman with a great sense of humor, always willing to lend a helping hand, an ability to repair things, and a passion for making pastries.
He is survived by his loving wife Diane Lynn Schilling, with whom he would have celebrated 35 years of marriage with, and their three children Stephen (Kim) Schilling of Dover, Julie Schilling of Strasburg, and Lisa Schilling of New Philadelphia; grandchildren Steven Pace, Kylie Schilling, Michael Schilling, and Cora Schilling. He will be dearly missed as well as by his brother and sisters Jan (Donna) Schilling of Middletown, Ohio, Angela (Tom) Kerns of Niles, Ohio, Penny (Larry) Martin of New Philadelphia, Ohio, and Joyce (Jim) Lawrence of Youngstown, Ohio; mother-in-law Lois Gordon and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents James is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Estella and Harold Creighton, and paternal grandparents Harry & Willimena Schilling.
A funeral mass that celebrates Jim�(TM)s life will be held Tuesday, August 21, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. William Arnold officiating. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery at Dover. Following the burial, a meal for family and friends will be served in the St. Joseph Family Life Center.
Friends may call in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover on Monday from 5-8 p.m. A Christian Wake service will be held Monday at 8:00 p.m.
