James E. “Jim” Fearon, age 71, of Strasburg, passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2018, in Mercy Medical Center, Canton, following a recent illness.
Born July 7, 1947, in Dover, he was a son of the late Hugh and Marjorie Eash Fearon. Jim graduated from Strasburg High School in 1965, and, along with his wife, Rose, owned and operated the Navarre Drive-Thru and Falcon Floral, also of Navarre.
Jim worked hard all of his life, and always put others first - if you needed him, he was there. Some of Jim’s best-loved pastimes were gardening and mowing the grass, fishing, golfing, dancing and going to the beach - especially in Mexico. He also had a lifelong love of music - again, along with dancing - and his favorite band was La Flavour. Jim looked forward to learning to play the guitars given to him by Mike Domer and Craig DeBock - it was part of Jim’s “bucket list.” He was a member of Holy Family Parish, Navarre, and was a Third Degree Knight of Columbus.
Survivors include his loving wife, Rose Detchon Fearon, whom he married on August 23, 2007; his children, Harold (Kathy) Fearon of Wooster, James “Jim” (Michelle) Fearon II of Strasburg, and Carrie (Michael “Mike”) Domer of Dover; his step-children, Brandy (Shawn) Dazey of Massillon and Myssi Madzia of Beach City; his grandchildren, Riley, Olivia, Kate, Christopher, Robin, Taylor, Alec, Devin, Delilah, Gage and Teresa; his great-grandchildren, Carson, Landon and Colin; his former wife, Betty Fearon; his siblings, Randy (Patti) Fearon and Linda (Ron) Reiger; his nieces and nephews; and his fur babies, Bentley and Phoebe.
Besides his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brother, Daniel F. “Dan” Fearon, earlier this month; and a great-niece, Cassandra.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, on Sunday, November 25, 2 - 5 p.m. A funeral service will be held Monday, November 26, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Fr. Thomas G. Bishop officiating. Burial will be in St. Aloysius Cemetery, Strasburg. Following the committal, there will be a lunch in St. John United Church of Christ fellowship hall, Strasburg.
The family suggests that contributions in Jim’s memory be made to the Tuscarawas County Humane Society, 1432 Tall Timber Rd. N.E., New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663, or the Fairless Alumni Association, ℅ Beth Musacchia, Musacchia Tax Service, 320 South Wabash Ave., Brewster, Ohio 44613.
