James E. "Jim" Fox, age 80, of Dover, died Tuesday, June 11, 2013, in his home, following a long illness.
Born July 18, 1932, in Parral, he was a son of the late Lewis and Margaret Studer Fox. Jim attended the former Wooster Highway School and Dover High School before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force in 1951. He liked the Air Force and made it a career. Among his many duties was that of a boom operator on a KC-135 Stratotanker, where he fueled other inflight military aircraft. Jim retired from military service in 1971 as a master sergeant, and then went to work as a flight instructor at both Beach City Airport and Harry Clever Field. In his spare time, he built and flew his own kit plane a GlaStar. Jim ultimately retired from Brentco Aerial Patrol, a company that aerially surveys pipeline and buried cables.
Jim married the former Donna L. Bleininger on June 27, 1953 - the couple would have celebrated their sixtieth anniversary later this month. He was a devoted family man who doted on his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jim started taking his son, Paul, at a young age to motocross events, a father-son tradition that continued until just recently. He enjoyed the game of golf, and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Eagles, both of Dover.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Donna; his daughter, Cindy (Dewey) Costanza and his son, Paul E. (Coleen) Fox, both of Dover; his four grandchildren, Chris (Betsy) Costanza, Tara (Andrew) Ireland, Heather (Nick) Rufener and Jennifer Fox; his seven great-grandchildren, Quinn and Eva Costanza, Kacy and Keppler Ireland, Makenna, Kaitlynn and Caden Rufener; his sister, Norma (Arnold) Bernard of Carrollton; his brother, Richard (Vi) Fox of Big Spring, NE; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Fox.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Friday, June 14, 6 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held Saturday, June 15, at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home with Jim's grandson, Chris Costanza officiating.
