James E. “Jim” Galigher, age 71, of New Philadelphia, passed away Thursday, May 11, 2017, in Aultman Hospital, Canton
Born January 1, 1946, in Zanesville, he was a son of the late Edward and Ann Miley Galigher. Jim graduated from Conotton Valley High School and went on to earn his bachelor’s and masters’s degrees from Kent State University. He was an educator with a career that spanned 38 years, having taught at Conotton Valley and Indian Valley North High Schools and Buckeye Career Center - where he was an auto body instructor.
Jim greatly enjoyed being a grandfather and loved annual family summer vacations at Myrtle Beach. He also loved automobiles and car shows, and was often a car show judge. Jim served as a committee member for the Conotton Creek Trail.
He is survived by his loving wife, Janet L. Owens Galigher, whom he married on December 21, 1968; his sons, Kevin (Macie) Galigher of Dover, and Aaron (Summer) Galigher of New Philadelphia; his grandchildren, Keton, Kyle, Kason, Zach and Kilee; his sister, Tina (Tom) Wallick of New Philadelphia; his brothers, Greg (Jane) Galigher of Surfside Beach, South Carolina, and Todd (Beth) Galigher of Scio; and his nieces and nephews.
