James E. Kneubuehl

James E. Kneubuehl, 93, of Dover passed away on Friday, June 19, 2015 in his home.
Born June 13, 1922 in Dover, he was a son of the late Edward and Lydia Torgler Kneubuehl . Jim was also preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine Mattingly Kneubuehl on April 14, 2010; son in law, Brian Gregg; sister in law, Kay Kneubuehl; aunt, Edith Kneubuehl and cousin, Dorothy Jane Kneubuehl.
Jim retired from the United States Navy as a civilian engineer and served time on a Task Force for George H.W. Bush. He was a WWII Army veteran who served in Europe and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Jim was a past Post Commander and 10th District Divisional Commander and long-time finance officer of the American Legion. He was a past Tuscarawas County American Legion Commander, life Member of the Dover Post of the American Legion, past Buckeye Boys State Trustee, life member of the Dover VFW and was a Voiture 117 of the 40 & 8 Club.
Jim was also a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, longstanding member of the Society of Military Engineers and the National Society of Professional Engineers. He was an Eagle Scout, and in 2009 received the oldest living Eagle Scout award from the Buckeye Council District.
Jim graduated from the University of Akron with a mechanical engineering degree and was a charter member of Tau Kappa Epsilon #13. He attended the Wharton School of Finance in Philadelphia, PA and was an instructor at the Gloucester County Community College in NJ.
Jim is survived by his children, Kella Ann Gregg of Langhorne, PA, James II (Sharon) of Woodbury, NJ and Gary (Sally) of Alpharetta, GA; brother, John Kneubuehl of Sun City, AZ; grandchildren, Erik (Alexis), Katherine and Kyle; great-grandchild, Gavin and niece and nephew Carol and Mark.
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, June 27 at 10:30 am in the St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Peter Asantebwana officiating. Interment will be at the Dover Burial Park where the Dover VFW will conduct military graveside services. Friends can call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover on Friday from 5-7 pm with Christian Wake services starting at 6:45.
