James J. "Jim" Lawless, age 69, of New Philadelphia, died Monday, June 2, 2014, in Schoenbrunn Healthcare, following a brief illness.
Born October 1, 1944, at Dover, he was a son of the late Mark and Irene Engler Lawless. Jim graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1962, and served honorably with the U.S. Navy in the Mediterranean, Caribbean and Pacific. He attended Kent State University and the McKim Electronic School at Akron. He was employed as a telephone repairman, and, later in life, delivered Mobile Meals for Union Hospital at Dover. Some of his favorite pastimes were fishing, walking and working on his home.
Jim is survived by several cousins.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, 246 E. High Ave., New Philadelphia, on Thursday, June 5, 6 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held Friday, June 6, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Fr. Jeff Coning officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Calvary Cemetery at Dover, where the Dover post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars will perform military rites.
