James K. “Jim” Horn, 92, of Dover, died Saturday, September 22, 2018 in the Hennis Care Centre at Dover.
Born April 2, 1926 in Dover he was a son of the late Albert and Ida Henney Horn. Jim was also preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Virginia Horn on July 28, 2010; sisters, Idabel Egler, Lucille Stebig, Lillian Crile, Ruby Fox, Marie Fox, Theo Broomall and a brother, David Horn.
Jim proudly served his country with the United States Army during WW II; he fought during the Battle of the Bulge, and was held as a POW. Following the war, Jim worked for Gradall, having retired after 35 years of service. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, American Legion, DAV, American Ex-Prisoners of War, Retired Highway Patrol Auxiliary, Tusco Rifle Club and AARP. On September 20, 2008, Jim had the privilege of taking an Honor Flight with his daughter and good friend, Bill Semanco to see the WW II Memorial in Washington DC.
Jim is survived by his daughter, Deborah Horn of Dover and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 26 at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover with Pastor Donald Rice officiating. Interment will be at the Dover Burial Park where military graveside services will be conducted. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 5-7 pm.
