James Lowell "Jimmers" Evans Iii

James Lowell “Jimmers” Evans III, 55, of Dundee passed away at his home on Thursday, May 10, 2018 following an extended illness.



Born on December 12, 1962, in Massillon, he was the son of James “Jim” Jr. and Roberta Rae (Newmiller) “Bobbi” Evans of (Beach City).



Jim graduated from Fairless High School in 1981. He was a self taught auto mechanic. He especially loved working on Honda’s. He attended R. G. Drage Career Technical Center in Massillon where he learned to weld. For the past 9 years, he worked at Advance Automotive in Canton.



He loved spending his time outdoors. He looked forward to camping trips with his family and his family cabin in Canada, where he spent many hours getting “porch therapy.”



Jim joined Scouting as a Den Leader with the Cub Scout Pack 72 in 1996, where he served through both sons’ cub years. In 2000 he joined the Boy Scout Troop 72 as an Assistant Scoutmaster. He took on the role Scoutmaster in 2003 and served again from 2008 to 2012. He then transitioned to Troop Committee Member in 2003. Jim has been an instrumental driving force for rank advancement within the troop, helping break a 19 year gap of Eagle Scout Awards earned within the community. Jim’s legacy of service to Scouting will continue to serve the youth of Strasburg for the life of the program.



In his memory, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Boy Scout Troop 72, PO Box 198 , Strasburg, Ohio 44680.



In addition to his parents, Jim Jr. and Bobbi Evans; he will be sadly missed by his companion of 13 years, Michelle Divine of Dundee; his children, Kristin (Frankie) Alexander of Navarre, James Lowell (Jessica) Evans IV of Massillon, Nicole (Andrew) Yoder of New Philadelphia, Matthew James Evans of Akron, Darrick (Julia) Divine of White City, Oregon, Katlyn (Jonathan) Day of Beach City; eight grandchildren, Gavin, Deegan, Kourtney, Gunner, Nova, Rhyder, Pyper, Colt; his brother, Robert Evans of Louisville; nephews, Robbie (Serena) Evans of Georgia, Karl Evans of West Lebanon; along with aunts, uncles, and cousins.



A private family service will take place with Pastor Jason Rissler officiating. Friends are invited to a memorial gathering at the St. John United Church of Christ in Strasburg on Saturday, May 19, 2018 from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm.
