James P. Mcnally

James P. "Jim" McNally, 83, of Strasburg, died Thursday, June 26, 2008, in Altercare, Navarre following a long illness.

Born December 23, 1924, in Morgan County, he was a son of the late Charles and Lelia Price McNally. Jim attended school in Morgan County, and went on to serve honorably in the United States Navy during the Second World War. He participated in three different invasions, Normandy and southern France in the European Theatre, and Okinawa in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre. Following his service time, Jim moved with his young family to Tuscarawas County and went to work for the Timken Roller Bearing Co. in Canton. He retired from Timken in 1981 following thirty-five years of service. Jim enjoyed gardening.

Survivors include a son, Patrick (Kay) McNally of Fayetteville, GA; two daughters, Deborah (Harold) Detweiler of Rawlins, WY, and Lynne (Dennis) Feller of Strasburg; nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; a brother, Oliver McNally of Upper Arlington; two sisters, Virginia Noland of Strasburg, and June Rummell of Gardenia, CA; along with many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his wife of fifty
years, Edythe Ward McNally, on August 13, 1997; a son, Phillip Jay McNally; a brother, Everett McNally; two sisters, Marie Rummell and Evelyn McGrath.

In keeping with his wishes, Jim will be cremated, and a memorial service will be held Monday, June 30, at 7 p.m., in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover with Pastor Brian Flood officiating.
