James R. “Jim” Watson, 77, of Dennison passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 11, 2018 in Mercy Medical Center at Canton.
Born September 4, 1941 in Coshocton, he was a son of the late James H. and Audrey Weltz Watson. Jim was also preceded in death by a brother, Michael R. Watson.
He retired from Republic Steel in Massillon after 30 years of service. Jim loved the outdoors, especially fishing, camping and hunting; he also enjoyed traveling and watching the Cleveland Browns and NASCAR. He was a member of the New Philadelphia VFW.
Jim will be sadly missed by his wife of 56 years, Nancy Holland Watson whom he married on December 16, 1961; children, Cathy (Michael Butt) Watson of Dover, Cindy (Doug) Abel of New Philadelphia, James (Ruthanne) Watson of Dennison, David Watson of Dennison, Tammy (Jose) Griggs of Colorado; brother, George Watkins of Columbus; 14 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 15 at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover with Rev. Brian Flood officiating. Interment will be in the Ridgecrest Memory Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 3-5 pm.
