James "JR" "Jim" Richard Moore, 68, of Dover passed away suddenly on Monday, December 7, 2015 at Union Hospital.
Born on January 14, 1947 in Millersburg, he was the son of the late Charles Lee and Margaret "Peg" LaBelle (AuFrance) Moore. He was also preceded in death by his brother; Charles "Spunk" Lee Moore; brother in-law, James Thompkins; two nieces, Rigel Thompkins-Lee, and Tara Moore.
Jim was a 1964 graduate of Warsaw High School. He joined the Army National Guard on July 11, 1964 where honorably served our country until he was discharged on July 10, 1970.
He was currently working at Burgess Drilling Company, where he has worked for many years. He also worked for Edward's Trucking, and was an over the road truck driver.
Jim was a familiar face at Buehler's in Dover, where he had his daily breakfast at The Mill. He loved auctions, target shooting, gambling and casinos. He liked watching NASCAR and enjoyed attending local races. He loved traveling to Myrtle Beach. Above all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He will be sadly missed by his daughters; Jamie Lynn (Brian) Smith of Dover; Kelly Moore Gibson of Canton; grandchildren, Morgan and Manning Orr, Andrew, Abbi, and Brian Smith, Nathan (Keirston) Gibson, Troy, Katrina and Anna Marie Gibson; sisters, Barbara Thompkins of Warsaw, Jean Gardner of Loudonville, Candice Spangler of Columbus; brother, Rodger (Peggy) Moore of Blissfield; his former wife and friend, Joy Diehl of Strasburg; along with many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Jim's life will be held at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Friday, December 11, 2015 at 12:00pm with Pastor Ronnie Davis officiating. The Dover VFW will conduct military honors at the funeral home following the service. A meal will be served at the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Thursday, December 10, 2015 from 4-7pm.
