James W. Burtscher, 80, of Dover, Ohio died Thursday, July 19, 2001 at Union Hospital following an extended illness.
Jim retired from Marlite Corporation at Dover where he worked for 38 years. Following retirement, he was a security guard at Memorial Hall in Dover.
Born May 21, 1921 in Roswell, Ohio , he was the son of the late William J. and Blanche Davis Burtscher.
He was a member of the St. John�(TM)s United Church of Christ at Dover. He was also a member of the New Philadelphia Eagles Lodge and was a 1939 graduate of New Philadelphia High School.
He is survived by his wife Margaret “Peggy” Lab Burtscher with whom he celebrated 33 years of marriage on July 13.
He is also survived by his children John (Diana) Burtscher of Flint, Michigan, Janette (Tom) Warner, Cathy (Chad) Bailey, Cindy (Doug) Peterman, and Dotty (Rick) Jenkins all of Dover; Paul (Carol) Forster of Canton, and Susan (Frank) Glazer of Richmond Hill, Georgia
Seven grandchildren Scott, Michelle and James Warner; Leslie Liedtke, Robbie Pettigrew, Melinda Richardson, and Jordan Bailey
Ten step grandchildren Mark Holshu, Jennifer Jinks, Jeff, Ryan and Tony Glazer; Erin and Doug Peterman Jr., Kelly, Lori, and Matthew Jenkins along with seven great grandchildren, four step great grandchildren , a sister in law Arlene Burtscher and two nieces Rhonda Stover and Sandra Brittenham.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Carol Joette Burtscher Reynolds, one granddaughter, Paula and three brothers, Edward and Charles Burtscher and an infant brother.
A memorial service will be held Monday, July 23, 2001 at 11 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home at Dover with Rev. Steve Daniels officiating. At Jim�(TM)s request, cremation will take place with inurnment at the Evergreen Burial Park in New Philadelphia. The family will receive friends Monday from 10- 11 am.
