James W. “Jim” Churchill, 85, a longtime Strasburg resident who lived most recently in Navarre, died Tuesday, February 10, 2004 in Aultman Hospital at Canton following a short illness.
Along with his late wife, Wanda (Hartline) Churchill, he owned the former Churchill Grocery at Strasburg. He had also been employed by Republic Steel and Greer Steel.
Born April 30, 1918 at Canton, he was the son of the late Donald and Caroline Olsen Churchill.
Jim was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He had a variety of interests that included attending auctions and playing cards with friends and family members. He also loved traveling and enjoyed taking tours and trips with area groups.
He is survived by: his daughter; Yvonne (David) Johnson of East Canton, six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and two sisters; Hazel (Vern) Isbell of Strasburg and Barb (Dean) Hartline of Massillon.
In addition to his parents and wife, Jim was preceded in death by: his son, Shurl Churchill and his brother George Churchill.
A service that celebrates Jim�(TM)s life will be held Saturday, February 14 at 2:00 p.m. in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Strasburg with Pastor Fred W. Grosse officiating. Interment will be in the Grandview Union Cemetery at Strasburg. Friends may call at the funeral home from noon until time of services at 2:00 p.m.
