James W. "Jim" Balder

James W. "Jim" Balder, 47, of New Philadelphia died Friday, September 17, 2010 following injuries he sustained in a tragic work accident.

He was employed by Hatcher Roofing in New Philadelphia.

Born June 2, 1963 in Dover he was a son of the late Earl and Jane Lorenz Balder. Jim was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Earl and Fern Balder and Gilbert and Anna Lorenz and mother in law, Mary Belle Jones.

Jim was a hard worker, when he wasn't at his regular job, he would always be helping others with any work that needed to be done. In his spare time he enjoyed riding his motorcycle and camping. He also loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and his favorite dog, Cuddles.

Jim will be sadly missed by his wife of 14 years, Mary Jones Balder whom he married on May 25, 1996; eight children, Susan (Charles) Penick of New Philadelphia, Shane (Kim) Smith of Dover, Tricia Balder and companion, Rodolfo Ajanel Hernandez of New Philadelphia, Shannon Balder and companion, Tom Page of Tusky, Randy Balder and companion, Felicia Camp of New Philadelphia, Brittany Balder and companion, Mike Gavin of Columbus, Robert Balder of the home and Heidi Hickenbottom of Georgia; three brothers, Ken (Sandy) Balder of New Philadelphia, Rick Balder of New Philadelphia and Don (Penny) Balder of Dover; father in law, Floyd Jones Sr., ten grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many dear friends.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at 1:00 pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover with Pastor Larry Fletcher officiating. Interment will be at the Dover Burial Park. Friends can call at the funeral home on Monday from 4-8 pm.
