Jane A. Miller, 73, of New Philadelphia, died Sunday, Feb. 15, 2009, in Union Hospital, Dover, following a brief illness.
Born, Apr. 16, 1935, in Coshocton, she was a daughter of the late Grover and Bernice Nealey Newell. Jane attended school in Coshocton, and, on Nov. 14, 1953, married Blaine Miller. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and was employed by The Repository, from which she retired after twenty-three years of service. Some of Jane's favorite pastimes included woodworking and wood-burning and needlepoint. She also enjoyed music playing the guitar, and sometimes the mouth-harp; she was fond of "the old hymns."
Survivors include two daughters, Linda (husband, Jesse) Shaffer and Darlene (wife, Mechael) Miller, both of New Philadelphia; two sons, Wayne (wife, Iris) Miller of Ragersville, and Rusty Miller of New Philadelphia; four grandchildren, Monica Brink, Josh Shaffer and Shawn and Travis Miller; six great-grandchildren, Destiny and Shayla Douglas, Jagger, Hope and Mason Miller, and Malik Shaffer; two bothers, Robert (wife, Janice) Newell and David (wife, Kathy) Newell, both of Coshocton; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Jane was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Blaine, on Feb. 27, 2001; twin infant daughters; three sisters; and one brother.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Feb 18, at 1:30 p.m., in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, 246 E. High Ave., New Philadelphia, with Tuscarawas County Hospice Chaplain Rick Brinsley officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Sandyville.
