Jane Balder, 62, of New Philadelphia, died peacefully in her home on Monday, March 24, 2003.
She was active for years as a sales representative for Avon and Tupperware, and was well-known as the owner/operator of the former “Grandma J(TM)s” One of a Kind Creations.
Born November 5, 1940 at Dover, she was daughter of the late Gilbert and Anna Mae Dodge Lorenz.
Jane had many talents and interests. She had written a children(TM)s poetry book and lyrics to the 1993 song “The Heart of it All.” She was gifted with the skilled use of her hands and made beautiful crafts that she shared with her family. Jane also enjoyed collecting angel and bird figurines. She always looked forward to playing Bingo and will be greatly missed by her close circle of friends she enjoyed playing with. Most of all, Jane was a woman dedicated to her family and took pleasure in spending quiet evenings at home with the people she loved most. She especially favored her grandchildren and had an easy way about her that made even strangers feel like a part of the family.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Earl Balder, with whom she celebrated 46 years of marriage on Sunday, March 23.
Other survivors include: four sons; Kenneth (Sandy) Balder of New Philadelphia, Rick Balder and his companion Tina Corpman of New Philadelphia, Donald (Penny) Balder of Dover, Jim (Mary) Balder of New Philadelphia, 15 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, two sisters; Margaret (Cecil) Ryan of Dover and Norma Wenger of Baltic, half-brother; Robert Lorenz of Fresno, her loving friend; Miranda Milburn of Dennison and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Jane was preceded in death by an infant grandchild.
In keeping with Jane(TM)s wishes, her body will be cremated. A public memorial service will held Saturday, March 29, at 1:00pm in the Indian Meadows Church of God at Dover with Pastor William L. Mallernee officiating. Those unable to attend or wishing to share a fond memory may sign the online register book for Jane by visiting the “online obituaries” link on the funeral home(TM)s website.
