Janet Ann Dickinson

Janet A. Dickinson, 69, of Bolivar, and formerly of Cadiz, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 19, 2011. She was a resident of the New Dawn Retirement Community at Dover.

Janet was born Aug. 18, 1941, in Wheeling, WV, the eldest of four children born to Anna Mae Laughrige Dickinson of Dover and the late Leslie Dickinson. She was a great traveler, who enjoyed camping, boating and bicycling, and accompanied her parents on vacations all over the United States. Prior to entering New Dawn, Janet resided in the Horizons Women's Group Home at Bolivar, and very much liked the interaction with her friends there.

She attended the First Church of Christ at Cadiz, and loved music, especially hymns, her favorite being "Jesus Loves Me."

In addition to her mother, Anna Mae, Janet is survived by her brother, Larry (Vicki) Dickinson of Dover; her sister, Lynne (Darrell) Beeker of Homer, AK; two nieces, Heidi (Brian) Swaney of Gnadenhutten, and Melissa (Chip) Hershberger of Dover; two nephews, Nicholas and Kevin Beeker of Homer; three great-nephews and a great-niece, Brendan and A.J. Swaney, and Jake and Tori Hershberger.

Besides her father, her brother and sister-in-law, James L. and Rosalee Dickinson, preceded her in death.

A funeral service will be held Monday, May 23 at 2 p.m., in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover, with Paul Giffin officiating. Burial will be private in Holly Memorial Gardens at Colerain.
