Janice B. Gerber

Janice B. Gerber, 89, of Strasburg died Friday, March 11, 2016 in the Community Hospice House following a sudden illness.

Born March 10, 1927 in Strasburg she was a daughter of the late Ervin Sr. and Lillian Renner Weber. Janice was also preceded in death by her husband, Ray D. Gerber on April 18, 2011; daughter, Henrietta Gerber; brothers, Junior, Henry, Larry and Daniel Weber; sisters, Vivian Snyder and Marjorie Byelene.

She was a member of the Strasburg United Methodist Church where she was active with the Alpha Class, Youth Fellowship, was the Sunday school superintendent and served on numerous committees throughout the years. Janice was also a Cub Scout Den Mother for many years. She was an avid quilter and won Best of Show with her "Tree of Life" quilt at the county fair in 1999.

Janice will be sadly missed by her children, Don (Fran) Gerber of Strasburg, John Gerber of New Philadelphia, Tim (Belinda) Gerber of Adena, Londa (Tim) Myers of Strasburg; sisters, Joyce Whitman and Bonnie Weber of Strasburg; 12 grandchildren, Adam (Melissa) Myers, Karina (Matt) Robbins, Nate (Jamie) Myers, Chris (Sarah) Myers, Tina (Sean Cook) Loibl, Paula (Steve) Mooreland, Brandi (Ricky) Tanner, Tricia (Kevin) Husch, Amber Williston, Tiffany (fianc, James Carmany) Champion, Timothy (Santana) Champion, Brandy Ray and 25 great grandchildren.

Cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 19 at 11:00 am in the Strasburg United Methodist Church with Rev. Jason Humble officiating. Interment will be at Grandview Union Cemetery at Strasburg. Friends can call at the church one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
