Jay R. Heter, 52, of Dover, Ohio died Saturday, September 29, 2001 at his home following a seven month battle with cancer.
He retired from the Orange County Marshals Office in Santa Ana, California where he served as Deputy Marshal. While residing in Dover, he was employed at Correll”s Potato Chips, 7 Up, and Wayne Auto.
Born July 27, 1949 in Uhrichsville, Ohio, he was the son of the late Dean A. and O�(TM)Dean Alexander Heter.
Jay enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson, traveling and being outdoors. He was a US Marine veteran having served in Viet Nam for two years.
He is survived by his sister Nancy (Peter) Damiene of Dover along with five nieces Cindy and Tom Suterland, Kelly and Darrel Sparks, Dee and Jon Trainor, Chris and Tom Mills, Angie and John Clark, and Tina Heter Higgs.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Marla Heter.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, October 2, 2001 at 11 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home at Dover with Rev. Glen Shedlock officiating. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park where the VFW will conduct military graveside services. A reception will follow at the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends can call at the funeral home Tuesday from 10- 11 am.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Tuscarawas County.
