Jean E. Leone passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 19, 2024, with family by her side at Ohio’s Hospice Truman House in New Philadelphia.
Born on July 17, 1944, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Marjorie (Littlefield) Bailey. After graduating from Jackson High School in 1962, Jean furthered her education at Columbus Business University earning a degree in 1964. It was in Columbus where she met the love of her life, Michael D. “Mike” Leone, and married on September 19, 1964. Mike and Jean spent nearly 57 years of marriage together before his passing in 2021.
Besides being a dedicated wife and mother, she was manager at the Yum Yum Tree for two decades, working at the Monroe Mall and New Towne Mall.
Jean was known for her kind soul and beautiful smile. She cherished the many friendships she formed over the years and enjoyed the monthly dinners with Mike’s classmates from high school. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and its Seniors group, as well as a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Family was central to her life. She cherished all time spent with family, especially the annual family beach vacation, creating lasting memories with her children and grandchildren. Jean will be dearly missed by her four children; Catherine Tull of Canton, Susan Leone of Dover, Jeannie (Bill) Sturges of Columbus, and Mike Leone (companion Stacy Donohoe) of Canton; her grandchildren, all of whom held a special place in her heart, Michael Tull (companion Sarah Tran), Lauren (Luke) Ellwanger, Elizabeth Watkins (companion Logan Fondriest), Bailey Kimble, Audrey Sturges, and Dominic Sturges; her brother, Arthur (Diane) Bailey of Texas; and, her nieces and nephews.
In addition to her beloved husband, Mike, and her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her sister, Judy Bailey.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Dover on Monday, October 28, 5 - 7 p.m with a Christian Wake Service starting at 6:45 pm. A memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 29, at 11 a.m. in the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Dover with Fr. Jimmy Hatfield officiating. Following the Mass, burial will be in the St. Joseph Calvary Cemetery, Dover.
