Jean M. Zurfley

Jean M. Zurfley, age 92, of Bolivar, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2019 in the Country Lawn Center for Rehabilitation & Nursing Care, Navarre.

Born September 15, 1926, in Strasburg, she was a daughter of the late John and Ann Meyer Aul. Jean graduated from Strasburg-Franklin High School and was employed by the U.S. Ceramic Tile Co. in East Sparta. She married Leslie L. “Les” Zurfley, who survives, on November 2, 1963.

Jean was a loving wife, mother and grandmother (she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandson), and a member of the Church of the Holy Trinity, Bolivar. Jean was artistic and creative, she particularly liked to paint and was a member of the Palette Club. Some of her other favorite pastimes were quilting, weaving pine needle baskets, crocheting and reading.

In addition to her husband, Les, Jean is survived by her daughter, Bridget (Christopher) Harris of Canton; her grandson, Christian Harris; her brother, Fred (Mary Jane) Aul of Strasburg; her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Imogene and Richard Thompson of Navarre; and her nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her step-father, William “Bill” Weinmann.

A funeral Mass will be held Friday, February 1, at 11 a.m., in the Church of the Holy Trinity, Bolivar. There will be a luncheon in the church directly after the Mass. Burial will be later in St. Aloysius Cemetery, Strasburg.
