Jeffery A. "Jeff" Lax

Jeffery A. “Jeff” Lax, age 71, of Dover, passed away Thursday, June 15, 2023, after a long, hard-fought battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Born February 24, 1952, in Dover, he was a son of the late William H. and Mary A. Scaffidi Lax. Jeff graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1970, and was employed for years by Lauren Manufacturing in New Philadelphia. He also worked as a welder and a truck driver. 

In his younger days, Jeff enjoyed motorcycle riding (he was known as “The Wheelie King”) as well as cruising in his automobile.

He will be dearly missed by his children, Vanessa (Carl) Hoffmann and Adam Lax, both of Dover; his step-daughter, Sara (Jack) Mackey of Old Brooklyn in Cleveland; his grandchildren, C.J., Cali and Lukas Hoffmann, and Sylvia Mackey; his brother, William H. (Susie) Lax II of New Philadelphia; his nieces and nephews, Rob (Natalie) and Abby Lax, and Hannah (Brandon) Yoder; his former wife, Deborah Lax; and his best friend, Skip (Valerie) Gustin.

Besides his parents, Jeff was preceded in death by his nephew, William H. Lax III.

Jeff will be cremated through the care of the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover. His family is planning a celebration of his life to be held later.
