Jeffrey L. Zifer, 65, of Dover, Ohio and spent that last nine months in Las Vegas, Nevada died Friday, April 20, 2012 in the Spring Valley Hospital Medical Center in Las Vegas following complications from a stroke and heart failure.
Jeff operated Grandma Zifer's Pizza on the Boulevard in Dover along with his grandmother, Josephine Zifer for 44 years.
Born May 15, 1946 in Dover, Ohio, he was preceded in death by his mother Kathryn (Zifer) and stepfather, Paul "Pete" Haswell. He was also preceded in death by his aunt, Connie Hisrich.
Jeffrey was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church at Dover and also attended Immaculate Heart of Mary in Akron. After graduating from Strasburg Franklin High School in 1964, he attended Ohio State and Kent State Universities and proudly served in the National Guard from 1970-76. He was an avid golfer.
He is survived by a stepsister Sue Beatty of Florida and an uncle, Anthony Zifer Jr. of Columbus. He is also survived by several cousins.
Friends may call Sunday, April 29, 2012 at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover from 5pm-7pm. He will be privately laid to rest in the Calvary Cemetery in Dover.
