Jeffrey Swarny

Jeffrey "Jeff" Swarny, age 62, of Cleveland Heights, and formerly of Dover, died Wednesday, July 30, 2014, with his loving family around him, in The Cleveland Clinic, after a long battle with leukemia.



Born May 10, 1952, at Columbus, he was a son of the late Stephen and Betty (Jeffers) Swarny. Jeff graduated in 1970 from Dover's St. Joseph High School, and went on to attend Kent State University and United Electronics Institute. He was a retired lineman, having worked in the cable television industry for many years.



Jeff was an artist at heart, painting as a young man. He also loved music and playing the guitar.



Survivors include his wife, Linda (Patterson) Swarny, whom he married July 24, 1994; his three sons, Jared Cody Swarny (Jennifer) of Dennison, Zachary Stephen Swarny (Lesley) of New Philadelphia, and Michael Matthew Walker of Port Washington; his grandchildren, Isabella Sarah, Wyatt William, Reid Christopher and Kash Michael Swarny; his three sisters, Thea Belknap (Jim) of New Philadelphia, Stephanie Swarny of Canton, and Myra Hyde (Greg) of East Palestine; his three brothers, Gregory Swarny (Lisa) of Kyle, Texas, Bruce Swarny (Meneely) of Glendive, Montana, and Kent Swarny (Pam) of Bolivar; and his many nieces and nephews.



In addition to his parents, Jeff was preceded in death by his daughter, Sarah Swarny, and his granddaughter, Sophia Grace Swarny.



It was Jeff's wish that he be cremated. A memorial visitation, a time to pay respects and share memories, will be held Sunday, August 3, 2 4 p.m. in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover.



The family suggests that contributions in Jeff's memory be made to the Animal Protective League, 1729 Willey Ave., Cleveland, Ohio 44113.
