Jerry L. Elliott, 64, of Mineral City died Tuesday, January 24, 2012 in the Carroll Healthcare Center.
Born December 11, 1947 in Massillon, Ohio he was a son of the late William and Ruth Farnsworth Elliott. Jerry was also preceded in death by his brothers in law, Bill McCreery and Mike Barbee; sister in law, Stevie Elliott and nephew, Billy Steed.
Jerry was a hard worker and was employed at several different companies throughout his career including, Fairfield Brick, Ohio Power Survey Crew, Norton Chemical, Gregory Galvanizing, North American Galvanizing and Canton Malleable.
He attended St. Paul Community Church in Mineral City. In his spare time he loved hunting, fishing and talking with his friends. His other joy was coaching his sons in baseball. Jerry also proudly served his country with the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.
A wonderful and loving husband, father and grandfather, Jerry will be sadly missed by his wife of 38 years, Maxine McCreery Elliott whom he married on July 14, 1973; children, Jay Elliott of Barnhill and Cory (Cindy) Elliott of Hopedale; grandchildren, Jay Elliott Jr., Caitlyn, Logan, Kaylee and Brady Elliott.; brothers, Richard (Janet) Elliott of Mineral City and David (Pam) Elliott of North Canton; sister, Karen Steed of Dover; brothers in law, Marvin McCreery and David McCreery both of Mineral City; sisters in law, Edna Barbee of Columbus, Connie (Dan) Knepper of East Sparta and Georgia McCreery and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 29, 2012 at 2:00 pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover with Pastor Mark Gross officiating. Military honors will be conducted at the funeral home following the service.
