Joan L. Dessecker

Joan L. Dessecker, 89, of Dover passed away on her birthday, Sunday, July 8, 2018 in the Community Hospice Truman House.

Born July 8, 1929 in Dover she was a daughter of the late Raymond and Arvana Kuemerle Morrison. Joan was also preceded in death by two children, Jack and Joyce Dessecker; brother, Robert (Pat) Morrison; brothers in law, Denny, Dale, Jerry Dessecker, Ralph Keller; niece, Pamela Morrison and nephew, Bobby Morrison.

She was an active member of the Winfield United Methodist Church, co-director of the Tuscarawas County Senior Center Travel Division, AARP and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.

A wonderful and loving wife, mother and grandmother, Joan will be sadly missed by her husband, Gene Dessecker, with whom she would have celebrated 71 years of marriage on July 20, 1947; four sons, Ronald (Lois) Dessecker of Orrville, Richard (Cynde) Dessecker of Texas, Randy (Rosemary) Dessecker, and Rod (Sylvia) Dessecker both of Dover; 13 grandchildren, four great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 12 at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover with Rev. LuAnn Youngman officiating. Interment will be at the Dover Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5-8 pm.
