Joann Louise Philabaum Beebe
April 17, 1930-October 21, 2020
Joann Beebe, 90, of Dover, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on October 21, 2020, at Hennis Care Centre, Dover, Ohio. She joins her husband, William “Bill” Ray Beebe and her parents, Ruby Heid Philabaum and Clarence Philabaum.
Joann lived her early life in Strasburg but moved to Dover, Ohio, in her early teens. She worked at Stucky’s Grocery Store, Joy Manufacturing, and Greer Steel during her high school years and upon her graduation as valedictorian from Dover High School in 1948.
She met her “Bill” at a basketball game, courted, and they were married on June 24, 1951. When she had her first child, Susan, she became a fulltime homemaker. Linda arrived two and one-half years later, and David completed the family in 1960.
During her homemaking years, she enjoyed being a part of women’s and couples’ card clubs, Parent-Teacher Association work, and had various church involvements at different churches in the area. She gravitated towards music and teaching ministries. Teaching piano to her own children and others in the area brought her great joy! During this time, she was Bill’s secretary for his water treatment business.
When her children moved away, she and Bill would often travel to see them or entertain them in their homes, first on Slingluff Avenue, then at Northwood Avenue.
During these years, Joann and Bill often ate at the Senior Center, enjoying the company and friendships made earlier in life. After Bill went home to heaven, Joann changed residences: first to Country Club Nursing facility, then Hennis Care Centre. Both facilities gave her excellent care and helped her with increasing challenges.
She is survived by her sister Joyce Philabaum Watkins and children Susan (Keith) Mosebrook, Linda Clifton-McCormick, and David (Mary) Beebe. Additional family include seven grand children: Elisabeth, Abigail, Nathan, Jeremy, William, Michael, and Kristen and ten great-grandchildren: Joshua, Samuel, Josiah, Daniel, Esther, Tilia, Harper, Larkin, Wiley, and Briar Rose. She will be greatly missed by all.
Friends and relatives are invited to call at Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover, Ohio on Saturday, October 24, 2020, from 10:00-11:00. A celebration of Joann’s homegoing will follow at 11:00. Then a graveside will be conducted at Dover Burial Cemetery. Her son-in-law, Rev. Keith Mosebrook will officiate. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, masks are a state mandate
