Joanna G. Bunton

Joanna G. Bunton, 64, of Dover passed away in the Country Club Retirement Community, Dover on Saturday, November 2, 2024.

Born on January 8, 1960 in Lancaster, Ohio she was a daughter of the late Robert Sr. and Mildred McNutt Shaw.  Joanna was also preceded in death by her husband, Phillip J. Bunton Sr. on October 16, 2021, and her brother, Paul Shaw.

Her life was deeply intertwined with both her family and her work, particularly through the many years she dedicated alongside her husband at Phil's Well Service.  Joanna was an avid reader of her Bible, was skilled in various crafts and enjoyed knitting, activities that allowed her to share her creativity with those around her. The holiday season brought her particular delight as she loved watching Christmas movies on the Hallmark Channel.

Family was paramount in Joanna's life. She is survived by her loving children: Heather (Donald) Kline of Newcomerstown, Phillip (Candie) Bunton Jr. of Dover, Chasity Bunton of New Philadelphia, and Ronald (Aleisha) Bunton of Gnadenhutten. Joanna was a proud grandmother to 12 grandchildren and a doting great-grandmother to three great-grandchildren. Joanna is also remembered by her siblings, Bob (Jane) Shaw of Gnadenhutten, John (Trisa) Shaw of Newcomerstown, Vickie (Ken) Rex of Apple Creek, and Peggy Keaton of New Philadelphia. Additionally, she is survived by her sister-in-law, Deb Shaw of Dover.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 6th starting at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Strasburg with Rev. David Wing officiating.  Interment will be in the Grandview Union Cemetery at Strasburg.  The family will be greeting friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:00 to 11:00 am.
