Joanne Gilland

Joanne Gilland, 80, of New Philadelphia joined the love of her life, David E. Gilland, in heaven on Monday, April 9, 2018 at the Community Hospice Truman House.

Born on October 13, 1937 in Dover, she was the daughter of the late Albert Virgil and Martha (Homan) Ritenour. She attended New Philadelphia High School. On New Years Eve of 1954, she married David, who preceded her in death on August 21, 2015. She was also preceded in death by her son, Michael E. Gilland, along with her two sisters and a brother.

Joanne was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her favorite pastime was the time she spent with her grandchildren. She enjoyed playing bingo and loved going to the Wheeling Island Casino with her family and friends.

She will be sadly missed by her three daughters; Connie (Michael) Popovich, Lisa (Ron) Dague, Debra Wade all of New Philadelphia; her son, Steven (Michele) Gilland of Mineral City; sister, Vickie Zurcher; her daughter in-law, Maggie Gilland of New Philadelphia, 20 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren (she was expecting another great-grandbaby in July), along with numerous nieces and nephews.
