Joanne Mcgovern Weaver

Joanne (McGovern) Weaver, 85, of Dover passed away at the Compassionate Care Center in Canton, Ohio on Sunday, April 13, 2014 lovingly surrounded by her family after a period of declining health.

Born October 31, 1928 in Winfield, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Lester and Maude (Gordon) McGovern. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Edward W. "Eddie" Weaver who she married May 11, 1957 and died January 30, 2007. In addition, she was preceded in death by a son, Daniel; a daughter, Sally; a sister, Nancy; a brother in law, Sam Seikel; her mother in law and father in law, Robert and Armilla Weaver; in laws, Jim and Mary Edith Obermiller and Dolores Weaver.

She was a member of Ruslin Hills Church in Dover and former member of both the Unity Grange and the Mu Chapter of the Alpha Pi Sigma Sorority.

Joanne was a 1946 graduate of Dover High School. She worked at the former McGovern Meat Market in Winfield as well as many area restaurants throughout her life. She was well known for her cooking and baking and one never went hungry when visiting her home. She also enjoyed gardening, canning, and sewing. She enjoyed feeding and watching the birds and was an avid Cleveland Indians fan. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt to her family. She spent many years caring for her family and her extended family.

Joanne will be sadly missed by her family that includes a daughter and son in law Sara and Richard O'Donnell of Dover; a son and daughter in law, William and Jacquie Weaver of Portland, Oregon; grandchildren, Valerie (Steve) Maxwell and great grandson, Henry of Dover; Katie Weaver of East Sparta, Cody and Chelsea Weaver of Oregon and Ryan and Brandon O'Donnell of Dover; a brother and two sisters, Colleen Seikel of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Lee and Corrine McGovern of Canton, Bonnie and Dave Savage of Dundee; sisters and brothers in law, Ruth and Jerry Graef, Joe Weaver, Sam and Jean Weaver along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

At Joanne's request, there will be no calling hours or public funeral service and a private graveside service will be held at a later date in the Ruslin Hills Cemetery near Dover.
