Joe Reuben Haas, 85, of Dover died early Monday morning, Feb. 23, 2015 in the Community Hospice House at New Philadelphia following a brief battle with cancer.
Joe retired in 1989 from the Shipping Department at Marlite following 42 years of service.
Born June 25, 1929 in near Dover (Columbia), he was the son of the late Reuben and Mildred Haas.
Joe was a member of the St. John's United Church of Christ in Dover. He was a life member of the NRA and proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force (Mosquito Squadron) during the Korean War. He was an avid supporter of the Wounded Warriors. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He will be sadly missed by his family including his wife Helen (Schneider) Haas with whom he would have celebrated 64 years of marriage on July 15; two children, Terry Haas of Hesperia, California and Jodie (Victor) Roth of Dover; four grandchildren, Brett (Sommer) Haas, Christina Haas, Lauren Roth and Erica Roth; three great grandchildren, Skylar, Luke and Kayden along with two brothers, Jerry (Irene) Haas and Jim (Doris) Haas both of Dover.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by two brothers, Gene and Sam.
Joe's family would like to thank his family and friends for their love and support.
Joe will be cremated and a private graveside service will be held at a later date in the Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia.
