John A.C. “Jack” Koontz, 92, of Dover passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, October 16, 2022.
He was born on February 20, 1930 in Massillon and was a son of the late Harry and Minnie Kestner Koontz. Jack was also preceded in death by his wife, Jane Koontz on June 13, 2022; brother, Franklin Koontz and sisters, Mary Lawrence and Harriett Gardner.
He was a 1948 graduate of Massillon Washington High School and attended Kent State University. Jack served his country with the United States Navy during the Korean War. Following the war, he was employed at Nabisco as a salesman, and retired in 1992 after 38 years of service. He was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Dover, Tuscarawas Lodge #59 F & AM, life member of the former Dover Elks and the Scottish Rite of Canton. In retirement, Jack enjoyed vacationing in the National Parks, playing cards with his friends, and feeding the neighborhood birds and squirrels.
Jack is survived by his children, Thomas Koontz of Beverly Hills, Michigan and Kathy Koontz of Powell, Ohio.
Cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover. Private graveside services will be held at the Dover Burial Park.
