John B. “Tim” Bainter, 65, of Beach City, died peacefully while surrounded by his family on Wednesday, November 28, 2007, in the Mercy Medical Center at Canton.
Born June 15, 1942 at Coshocton, he was the son of Stanley A. Bainter and his wife Orletta of West Lafayette, and the late Maxine Courtright Bainter.
John was a meat cutter by trade. He graduated from the Toledo meat cutting school and worked for a variety of shops before retiring from Superior Brand Meats.
He was a member of the Strasburg United Methodist Church.
A 32nd degree mason, John was a member of Cypress Lodge 604 at Strasburg, and was also a member of the Valley of Canton Scottish Rite.
John enjoyed the outdoors, whether camping, fishing, or being outside with animals. Animals were a passion, as he was active with the Tuscarawas
County Rabbit Breeders Association, The Stark Beagle Club, as well as the Stark Bee Keepers.
For years he was a vendor at area flea markets. He was also a former 4-H advisor with the Strasburg Country Bumpkins and enjoyed events like the Stark, Coshocton, and Tuscarawas County fairs.
In addition, he was an avid photographer and had been affiliated with the Tuscarawas County Amateur Photographers Association.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Mildred Brown Bainter, whom he wed on November 7, 1965.
Other surviving family members include: his son, John (Amy) Bainter of Strasburg; sister, Stephanie (Ron) Mahring of Apple Valley; brother, Phil Bainter of Anderson, SC; grandson, Tyler M. Bainter; aunt, Janice Adams of Boone NC; sister-in-law, Patricia Brown of Beach City; and brother-in-law, Larry (Dorothy) Brown of Navarre; a niece and three nephews.
Along with his mother, John was preceded in death by his aunt, Reva Courtright and uncle Oakley Courtright.
Rev. Steven Court will officiate a service that celebrates John�(TM)s life on Monday, December 3, at 2:00 p.m. in the Strasburg United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Strasburg�(TM)s Grandview Union Cemetery. Friends may call in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover on Sunday from 1-4p.m. and one-hour prior to services at the church on Monday. Masonic services will be held in the funeral home at 12:45p.m. on Sunday.
