John L. Hirning, 69, of Dover passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2001 at Cleveland Clinic following complications from surgery.
He retired in 1986 from I.F. Manufacturing in New Philadelphia after 35 years of service.
Born September 12, 1931 in Holloway, Ohio he was a son of the late Frederick and Myrtle Nichols Hirning.
He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Dover
John is survived by his wife Marilyn Walton Hirning with whom he celebrated 50 years of marriage on August 9, 2000.
He is also survived by five sons: John E. and Rosemarie Hirning of Dover

Fred C. Hirning of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida
David A. Hirning of Dover
Douglas P. Hirning of Steamboat Springs, Colorado
One daughter: Sandra Jo and Thomas Tindall of Edmonds, Washington

He was also preceded in death by a son: Worth N. Hirning
3 brothers: Clyde Hirning, Bryden Henderson and George Henderson
Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2001 at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home at Dover with Pastor Jeffrey Lee officiating. Following the service a reception will be held at the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center.
