John L. Maher

John L. Maher, 78, of Dover died Friday, December 21, 2012 in the Hospice House at New Philadelphia.

Born September 17, 1934 in Somerdale he was a son of the late John F. and Myrtle Roberts Maher. John was also preceded in death by his wife, Anna P. Maher on October 1, 1994 and seven brothers and sisters.

He retired from the Hoover Co. in North Canton and had also worked for Reeves Bank and the Timken Co. in New Philadelphia. John's favorite past-time was going to Dee's Restaurant, sometimes twice a day, spending time and shooting the breeze with his friends. John also proudly served his country in the US Marines.

A wonderful and loving father and grandfather, John will be sadly missed by his children, Tammy Maher of Canton, Janice (Danny) Jackson and John D. (Kathy) Maher both of Dover; grandchildren, Lori, Holly, Jessica, Johnny, Jarrett and Jenna; great grandchildren, Zack, David and Maryah.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 27 at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover with Pastor Cliff Price officiating. Interment will be in the Ridgecrest Memory Gardens. Friends can call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6-8 pm.
