John L. Tucker, 77, of Strasburg, died Friday, February 7, 2003, in Aultman Hospital following a brief illness.
Born January 6, 1926 at Cambridge, he was a son of the late Porter and Opal Jones Tucker.
As a member of the United States Navy, John earned 3 medals while serving on the USS Canberra during World Ward II.
He was employed by the Canton City Schools for many years.
John was an avid outdoorsman and was noted for his skills in hunting and fishing.
On January, 12, 1943, John married the former N. Ramona Waller. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last month.
Suvivors include: seven children; John F. (Linda) Tucker of Grand Haven, MI, Terri (Brad) Mallet of Princeton, WV, Sandra (Michael) Wikoff of Dover, Steve (Cathy) Tucker of Canton, Paul (Shirley) Tucker of Beach City, Darla (Jed) Hanni of Stone Creek and Debra (Michael) Himes of Strasburg, 23 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, a brother; Carl (Katy) Tucker, a sister-in-law; Gloria Tucker of Canton and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister-in-law; Harold & Margaret Tucker and David Tucker, his grandparents, three grandchildren, two great grandchildren, aunts, uncles and a niece.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 11, at 10:30am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Dover with Rev. Ray Gill officiating. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Byesville. Friends may call in the funeral home on Monday from 5-8pm.
