John L. Weaver

John L. Weaver Sr., 90, of Dover died Sunday, July 7, 2002 at the Hennis Care Centre in Dover.

He retired in 1976 from US Concrete in Uhrichsville after 46 years of service.

Born October 8, 1911 in Barnhill he was a son of the late Lewis and Lucinda Ohler Weaver.

He was a long time member of Gnadenhutten United Methodist Church and was a Lay Leader, Sunday School Teacher, served on Administrative Council and numerous committees. He was also a member of Port Washington Blue Lodge, Buckeye Senior Citizens of Gnadenhutten and New Philadelphia AARP. He also enjoyed playing cards with his senior citizens groups.

John was preceded in death by his first wife, Lillian Holmes Weaver who died in 1961 and his second wife Lucille Scott Weaver who died in 1990.

He is survived by two sons: Gerald (Helen) Weaver of Canton
John (Eve) Weaver Jr. of Ellenton, Florida

Three daughters: Loretta (Jack) Griffin of Dover
Peggy (Jack) DeMello of Goulds, Florida
Lillian (Donald) Kennedy of Dover

Step-daughter: Karen Scott of New Philadelphia

Eight grandchildren: Jerry Weaver Jr., Gary Weaver, Leann Lilly, Jon Michael Griffin,
Steven DeMello, John DeMello, Regina Willis and Mitchell
Kennedy.

Three Step grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren

Loving companion: Alice Creager

He was also preceded in death by a foster brother: Earl Weaver.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2002 at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home at Dover with Rev. Dorothy Penny and Pastor David Wing officiating. Interment will be at the Evergreen Burial Park. Following the burial a reception will be held at the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends can call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6-8 pm and one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
