John R. Luthy, 94, of 214 W. 23rd St., Dover, Ohio died Sunday, January 23, 2000 at his son Rudy’s home near Stone Creek.
John retired in 1970 as an employee of the Greer Steel Company at Dover where he worked for 31 years.
Born August 31, 1905 near Dover, he was the son of the late Rudolph and Rosa Nelsh Luthy.
He was a member of the Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church at Dover, Dover VFW, Dover Moose and Eagles Lodges and the Dover Army Navy Club.
John was preceded in death by his wife Martha M. Keller Luthy who died Nov. 8, 1996. They were married for 63 years.
He is survived by two sons Rudy W. (Darlene) Luthy of Stone Creek and John “Jack” (Carol) Luthy of Rootstown, Ohio
Eight grandchildren Rudy Jr., Brenda, Mark, Steve, Michael, Scott Luthy, Lori Williams, and Leslie Keith
Fourteen great grandchildren Jacqlyn, Alli, Emily, Casey Jo, Mark Jr., Lacey Lynn, Michael Jr., Nicholas, Cameron, Ronny, Dawnielle, Marcie, Nathan, and Michael Jr.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Ronald and Donald Luthy, one grandson, two great grandchildren, three brothers, and four sisters.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, January 27, 2000 at 1:30 PM in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home at Dover with Pastor Brian Nunnally officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia. Friends can call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM.
