John R. “Spicket” Fawcett, 53, of New Philadelphia died Thursday, September 19, 2002 in the Joel Pomerene Hospital in Millersburg following a sudden illness.
He was employed by Mt. Eaton Elevator & Holmes Ag Grainery.
Born August 20, 1949 at Dover, John was son of the late Ernest “Bud” & Sarah Jackson Fawcett.
He was a longtime member of the First Christian Church in New Philadelphia where he had served as a sound technician, was co-chair of the social committee and was member of the Joy class. He was also a big racing fan and enjoyed watching and listening to races on the NASCAR circuit.
John is survived by his loving wife, Paula (Walker) Fawcett, whom he wed on February 24, 1973.
Other survivors include: 3 children; Heather & her fiancé Adam Thomas, Travis & Traci all of New Philadelphia, 2 sisters; Kathy & Jim Hostetler of Sugarcreek, Elizabeth Morris of Sugarcreek, brother; David & Sandy Fawcett of Gnadenhutten, mother and father-in-law; Paul & Barbara Walker of Barnesville, 3 brothers-in-law; Pat & Marsha Walker of Sugarcreek, Steve Walker of New Philadelphia & Mark & Lanell Walker of Cleveland, TN, sister-in-law Christine & Jim Huff of Mineral City, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by a brother, Chuck and a sister, Becky.
Funeral services will be held Monday, September 23, at 11:00am in the First Christian Church in New Philadelphia with Rev. Jim Borton officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Burial Park in New Phila.
Due to the extensive renovations and remodeling at Toland-Herzig�(TM)s New Philadelphia location, friends may call in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Dover on Sunday from 2-6pm. Friends may also call at the church on Monday one hour prior to services.
