John T. Swinehart, 77 of Stone Creek, died Monday, January 5, 2004 in the Hennis Care Centre at Dover after a brief illness.
He was the owner/operator of the former Tusco Tarp in Stonecreek. He had also worked for many years as a truck driver for White Star Trucking, which had been located in Canton.
Born July 29, 1926 at New Philadelphia, he was the son of the late William and Veda Kaserman Swinehart.
John had previously attended the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in New Philadelphia. He served in the south Pacific as a member of the Army during World War II.
He was a passionate distributor of NIKKEN products who seemingly had a magnet for every use. He enjoyed photography as well.
John also had a great sense of humor and always had a joke to share. He loved his grandsons and time spent with them is something he always cherished.
Surviving are: two daughters; Heather (Anthony) Lecce and Heidi (Frank) Torch both of Dover, three grandchildren; Zachary, Tyler and Jared Torch of Dover, sisters and brothers; Ruth Lane and her companion Johnny Trunk of New Philadelphia, William Swinehart of Canton, Maxine (Don) Baird of Beaver Creek, Ohio and Bob (Theresa) Swinehart of Sun City, Arizona. John is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by three brothers: Dave, Donald and Howard Swinehart.
A service celebrating John�(TM)s life will be held Friday, January 9, at 1:30 p.m. in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Dover with Pastor Mark Trotter officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Burial Park in New Philadelphia and a reception will be held in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center immediately following. Friends may call in the funeral home on Thursday from 5-7 p.m.
