John W. Gotschall

John W. Gotschall, 88, of Dover, Ohio died Wednesday, June 20, 2007 in Union Hospital at Dover following an extended illness.

John was a retired employee of General Electric Company at Dover.

Born September 8, 1918 in Apex, Ohio, he was the son of the late Charles and Zella Gotschall.

John was an active member of the Dover Alliance Church where he served as an usher for many years. He was known for his ability to easily remember names. He was a graduate of Ohio State University and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Matilda “Irene” Hicks Gotschall with whom he would have celebrated sixty years of marriage July 10; He is also survived by a sister, Marge Long of Arizona; two brothers, Dale Gotschall of Cambridge and Floyd Gotschall of Carrollton; a brother in law, John Lloyd (Joyce) Hicks of West Chester, Ohio along with several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his canine companion, Beau.

John was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Aubhile and two sisters in law, Alice Winzinreid and Dorothy Malone.

A public graveside service will be held Monday, June 25, 2007 at 10:30am in the Ridgecrest Memory Gardens with Pastor Tim Steiner officiating. A reception will follow in the Dover Alliance Church. There are no calling hours.
