John W. Rothacher, 85, of New Philadelphia, died Sunday, July 8, 2007 in Union Hospital after a brief illness.
Born January 8, 1922 in Dover, he was the son of the late Henry and Florence Zurcher Rothacher. He married the love of his life, Elise Otto Rothacher on April 2, 1954, who survives him.
John served our country in the Army during World War II. After 20 years of service, he retired in 1965 and began working for Dover Conveyor.
He was a life member of the Dover VFW and Dover Eagles. Reading, bowling and gardening where just a few of Johns favorite pastimes. He was an avid Cleveland Indians and Browns fan and loved watching Nascar. More than anything, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife Elise, his daughter, Kathy Rothacher of New Philadelphia, and many nieces and nephews survive him. He was a wonderful and loving mentor to his great nephew, Steven Pompey and great Nieces Jennifer and Lynda Pompey all of New Philadelphia.
Four brothers; Art, Harry, Marion, and Ralph Rothacher and his sister Doris Smith all precede him in death.
A graveside service will be held to celebrate John�(TM)s life at Ridgecrest Memory Gardens in Dover on Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor David Carrick officiating. The Dover VFW will be conducting military honors. The Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory are handling the arrangements. The family invites all guests to join them for a meal at the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center, which is located on the Boulevard in Dover.
