Johnnie J. Goss

Johnnie J. Goss, 75, of Dover died Monday, February 1, 2016 in Union Hospital following a period of declining health.

Born May 23, 1940 in Ragersville, he was a son of the late John P. and Margaret Yakley Goss. Johnnie was also preceded in death by two brothers, James and Jerry Goss; sister, Robin Troyer.

He was a 1958 graduate of Garaway High School and met his Sweet Pa-Tutti, Nancy Grimm Goss at Chuck's Drive In where they eventually married on December 24, 1960. In his younger years, Johnnie worked as a cheese maker at Broad Run Dairy and retired from Republic Steel in Canton after 34 years of service. Following his retirement, he loved spending time watching his grandchildren in all of their activities, and enjoyed giving each one a different nickname. Johnnie was also interested in doing his family genealogy, where he spent hours researching the origins of his family tree. He was an active member of the Ragersville Historical Society.

In addition to his wife, Johnnie will be sadly missed by his children, Sherry (Dan) John of Newcomerstown, Pam (Mike) Herbert of Strasburg, Cathy (Rich) Scott and John (Virginia) Goss both of Dover; grandchildren, George Austin John, Danille John, Nikki (Jay) McCormick, Sean (Cassi) Newsome, Tiffany Herbert, Kristin (Tyler) Beckley, Matt Scott, Ashton Scott and fianc Chris Fielding, Johnnie Goss and Kellie Goss; great grandchildren, Carter Gabriel, Rylie Beckley and brother, Dean (Paula) Goss of Venice, Florida.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 5 at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover with Pastor Jason Rissler officiating. Interment will be in the Grandview Union Cemetery at Strasburg. Friends can call at the funeral home on Thursday from 5-8 pm.
