Jonathan R. Bowman

Jonathan R. Bowman, 52, of Dover passed away suddenly at his home on Monday, January 18, 2021.

Born April 7, 1968 in Dennison, he was a son of Cynthia (Joe) McKnight of Jackson Township and the late Rickard Bowman. In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Mary Fisher and Ernest and Jeanetta Bowman.

Jonathan was a 1986 graduate of Indian Valley South High School. He started his working career at UPS at New Philadelphia in 1988 as a driver; he then became secretary and treasurer of the Teamsters Local #92 in Canton, a position he held until his passing. He was dedicated to the union, and was a member of several different committees. Jonathan loved sports, and was actively involved with coaching his son. From the T-Ball fields in Winfield, or the pee wee football fields in Dover, he was always there encouraging Alex. Jonathan was a hard worker, but in his free time he enjoyed playing a round of golf with his friends and family. He had a great sense of humor and a kind heart and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his mother, Jonathan is also survived by his son, Alex Bowman of Dover; brothers, Erik (Christine) Bowman of Canton, Aaron (Stacie) Bowman of Dennison; niece and nephew, Rees and Bree Bowman; fiancé, Catherine Neisel and two step-daughters, Erin and Abigail Neisel.

Private family services will be held with interment at the Dover Burial Park. The family will be greeting friends on Friday, January 22 from 5-8 pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover. Due to Covid-19, masks and social distancing will be required.
