Joseph E. Ball, 97, of Bolivar died peacefully at his home on Sunday, October 21, 2018.
Born March 18, 1921 in Schoenbrunn, he was a son of the late Charles and Blanche Hutchison Ball. Joe was also preceded in death by his wife, Amanda Herron Ball on December 13, 2002; son, Fred “KC” Ball; brothers, Earl and Ralph Ball; and sisters, Gladys Crawshaw and Elizaebth Rybarcyzk.
Joe proudly served his country with the United States Army Air Corp during WW II. Following the war, he was employed at Eaton Corp. in Massillon, having retired after 40 years of service. He was a member for many years at Faith Community Church in Canton, and later joined Bolivar Community Church, and was also an active member of the Strasburg American Legion. Joe was an avid golfer who loved playing with a great group of guys from Strasburg. He owned Ball Brothers Used Cars and Towing in Strasburg, with his brother Earl, and enjoyed fixing things for others and woodworking, he was seldom idle.
Joe is survived by his daughter, Connie (Richard) Arney of Bolivar; grandchildren, Richard Arney, David and Mary Ball; four great grandchildren; daughters in law, Susan Ball, Rachel Buchanan; many nieces and nephews, and his wonderful friend of many years, Ellie Schlimm.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 27 at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover with Pastor Aaron Rae and Pete Price officiating. Interment will be in the Grandview Union Cemetery at Strasburg. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 5-7 pm.
