Joseph E. Doutt

Joseph E. Doutt, 75, of Dover passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, September 13, 2022.

He was born on September 24, 1946 in Dover and was a son of the late Lester “Jack” and Irene Salina Doutt. Joe was also preceded in death by his wife, Terry Doutt on November 25, 1997.

He served his country from 1965 to 1968 with the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. Following his discharge, he worked for several different companies in the area, most notable Joy Manufacturing in New Philadelphia and Union Camp in Dover. But Joe was mostly known for his coaching at Dover St. Joe and TCC. He starting his career coaching girls elementary and Jr. High basketball for St. Joseph Elementary School; he then was the Assistant Football Coach for the high school starting at St. Joseph High School then to Tuscarawas Central Catholic, having retired in 1995 after a 35 year career. Joe was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, New Philadelphia VFW, American Legion and was an avid Notre Dame football fan.

He is survived by his children, Chris Doutt, Rebecca Stiller both of Dover; brother, Jim (Stephanie) Doutt of Medina; grandchildren, Shaylin Doutt, Sydney (Nate) Gray, Shelby (Brent) Kelley, Shane Stiller; great grandchildren, Rohan Joseph, Abby May, Logan Scott, Anthony Ryan, Audrianna Grace, Aiden Joseph, Braylon Michael, Kennedy Elizabeth, Asher Nathanial; niece, Alexa Salina Doutt; and his companion, Martha.

Cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, October 8th starting at 1:00 pm in the St. Joseph Calvary Cemetery at Dover with Fr. Jimmy Hatfield officiating.
